I was reading Henry Blodget this morning who mentioned that while “Yahoo! managed to stretch and claw its way to its numbers” they did it by slowing hiring and postponing advertising spending. Now while I doubt that Terry Semel reads my blog, I have a suggestion - release the freaking YPN network to the broader webmaster community. What impact will this have? An immense network (let’s talk about the value of long tail later) is ready and willing to depart Google Adsense for something better… anything better as a matter of fact. Those affiliates (let’s just call them employees for the sake of argument) will drive traffic, which drives advertising revenue, which makes investors extremely happy and make Yahoo more competitive over the long term. Please Mr. Semel - release the YPN.
