Ben Edelman released a report indicating that popups are artificially inflating traffic statistics. Really? Shocking!
While this may seem completely obvious to those in the Web marketing/promotions industry, you would be surprised at how many media buyers I know personally that still prefer to purchase inventory on visits alone instead of the more accurate metric of purely unique visitors. Bigger is not always better; targeted advertising (demographically and geographically centered) will always produce a higher return on advertising spend.
Next up for Edelman, AJAX causes issues with page impression reporting. Come on Ben, keep up.
